IC Information:
Name: Hikaru Shidou, reincarnated as Lucy Kesswick
Canon and medium: Magic Knight Rayearth, Manga
Age: 14/15 in canon, 15 reincarnated
Preincarnation Species: Human
Preincarnation Appearance: Here
Starting Location: Locke City, NJ, USA
Any differences: Lucy’s hair is even longer and wavier than it was in her original canon, making it more difficult for the pint-sized girl to manage. She is also far more feminine than her pre-incarnation counterpart and is partial to wearing large, poofy CLAMP-style dresses when she's not wearing her school uniform. Her red eyes are now a normal brown.
Preincarnated History: Hikaru Shidou was a normal popular junior high school student. She grew up practicing kendo at her parents' kendo dojo alongside her three older brothers, who doted on her relentlessly. Things were good, if not astonishingly average.

Then, one day, that all changed. During a class trip to Tokyo Tower. Hikaru was spirited away with two other girls from neighboring junior highs to a world called Cephiro. There, Hikaru learned that she was one of the legendary magic knights, summoned to that world to save it. The pillar of Cephiro, Princess Emeraude, was being held captive by Lord Zagato, and was unable to continue praying for her kingdom's peace and prosperity. Becauase of that, the kingdom was on the verge of destruction.

Along the way, Hikaru and the two other girls, Fuu and Umi, became fast friends. They learned magic together, they acquired weapons together, they evolved their magical armor together, and they even acquired mashin -- conscious mechas only magic knights were capable of piloting -- together. There seemed to be nothing that they couldn't overcome as long as they worked as a trio.

After they defeated Lord Zagato, the trio were overjoyed, beliving that they had finally saved Cephiro. It was only then that they learned that the only way to save Cephiro was to kill the pillar.

And they did so together.

Depression ate away at the girls as their heads were filled with what-ifs. What if they had tried to understand Princess Emeraude's feelings? What if they had known that they'd have to kill the pillar to save the land before they encountered Princess Emeraude for the first time? What if they had a second chance to do things over?

They didn't get a second chance, but they were summoned to Cephiro a second time. With no pillar, Cephiro was crumbling. Even worse, there were others from neighboring kingdoms that were looking to become pillar so they could use the land to fulfill their own wishes and desires.

Eagle, one of those foreign invaders, and Hikaru were both candidate for pillar, and underwent a test to see who would inherit the title. In the end, Hikaru became the pillar of Cephiro, and rebelled against the system entirely; the fate of a kingdom should not rest on the shoulders of one person.

With Cephiro's fate now firmly in the hands of her people, Fuu, Umi, and Hikaru were able to return to Tokyo, though they frequently returned to Cephiro to visit their friends.

It's all here if you need more.

Reincarnated History: Lucy was born the youngest child to two high-powered Vegas lawyers. Her parents were frequently absent, and so Lucy latched onto her older brother, Tsukasa, from an early age. While “Da-da” or “Mama” are typically the first words out of a child’s mouth, Lucy’s first word was her brother’s name.

Or a close approximation of it.

When Lucy’s parents were around, she shared a loving relationship with them. Where there was a general expectation that Tsukasa would join the family firm when he graduated from college, her parents had no such expectations for her. While Lucy was relieved that she wasn’t burdened with those expectations, a small part of her wondered if she was lacking in some way.

If they thought she was, they didn’t show it. Lucy’s mother, in particular, liked to spoil her daughter and bought her lots of clothes, perhaps, in part, to compensate for her absence. Lucy enjoyed the time she spent with her mother and like her, developed a keen fashion sense. Even as a child, Lucy enjoyed inventing her own outfits and even sketched out her own crude drawings of clothing she wished existed.

When Tsukasa turned eighteen, he moved to New Jersey to study photography at a local university. Their parents were disappointed; they had been set on their son studying law. Despite this, they helped him get settled in New Jersey, with the hope that he’d come to his senses and move back after a year or two.

That didn’t happen.

Though Lucy had plenty of friends at school, her older brother’s absence created a huge gap in Lucy’s life. Her parents were never home, leaving her in their big house by herself. And as time passed, her brother’s infrequent visits grew rarer. Lucy had never been more lonely.

When Tsukasa failed to come home for Christmas, Lucy decided it was the last straw. She packed her things and used all of her Christmas money to buy a one-way ticket to Jersey. She showed up on her brother’s doorstep with two suitcases in hand, ready to move in.

It took some negotiating, but Lucy managed to convince her parents that she was better off living with her older brother and the redhead enrolled in the local high school midway through the school year.

While Lucy had plenty of friends back at her school in Las Vegas, she found it difficult to make friends at her new high school. Most of the students there had attended the same schools all the way from elementary and had been friends for many years. Eventually, Lucy was adopted into a group of friends who were happy to take advantage of her at some times, and outright bully her in others.

Lucy excused her peers' behavior as "just joking around". There was no way that anyone could intentionally be so malicious and cruel. Even so, those so-called "pranks" took a toll on Lucy's confidence, even if the redhead wasn't quite aware of it herself.

Lucy didn't ever mention her problems adjusting to her brother. She was afraid if she did, he'd send her back home to live with her parents. And while Lucy loved her parents very much, she enjoyed Tsukasa's company even more. She didn’t want to be separated from her brother again.

First Echo: When Hikaru saw the pink light in Las Vegas on TV, it immediately triggered an echo of the moment she was atop Tokyo Tower and transported to Cephiro for the second time. She remembers standing there alongside a blonde and a bluenette, then a bright light flashing in front of her. The next thing she remembers is falling to an unfamiliar, crumbling world below.

Preincarnation Personality: Hikaru Shidou was born the only daughter to a family of all sons. As the youngest, Hikaru was doted upon by her overprotective older brothers. It was their love and affection that helped to mold Hikaru into the cheerful, optimistic, and loving girl she grew up to become.

Hikaru is enthusiastic -- and it shows in everything that she does. Tasks that others might find tedious, Hikaru jumps in headfirst with zeal. Nothing is ever boring to Hikaru, who takes a great interest in everyone and everything. Many find Hikaru's enthusiasm contagious -- and those who are infected have a hard time disliking Hikaru because of it.

Hikaru is optimistic and always manages to look on the bright side of things. It's perhaps due to her determination to see the best in everything that she stubbornly tries to see the best in everyone. No one can be 100% bad -- and after her first adventure in Cephiro, Hikaru only became more certain of this fact.

Because of her cheerful, child-like personality, Hikaru gives the impression of being naive. While Hikaru has her moments of perception (usually born of her extreme empathy for others), more often than not, jokes fly right over her head, and any unspoken implications alongside it. Hikaru often has to have things explained to her before she completely grasps what's going on. This is perhaps part of the reason why so many people to believe that the teenaged Hikaru Shidou is still an elementary school student.

In spite of her small stature and child-like personality, Hikaru is quite courageous. If another person is in trouble, she won't hesitate to help them, even if it compromises her own well-being. Most of the time, her strong will sees her through -- and when it doesn't, her friends Umi and Fuu are always willing to help get their companion out of a jam.

It should come as no surprise then, that Hikaru's determination is one of her strongest points -- and her strong strength of will served her well during her time in Cephiro. Even in the face of the extreme hardships she and the other magic knights experienced in Cephiro, her determination could not be completely extinguished. When Hikaru has an objective, she will see it through and give it her all, even if it means killing the Princess Emeraude and her lover, Zagato.

Like her friends Umi and Fuu, Hikaru was deeply affected by the death of Princess Emeraude. Unwilling to burden her friends or family, she took the weight of her sadness on her own. Rather than sharing her feelings about Princess Emeraude with her closest companions, she internalized it and put on a strong face. No matter how much she tried, she couldn't forgive herself for not being able to find another way to save Cephiro.

It is because of Princess Emeraude's death that Hikaru stopped rushing head-long into battle without a full understanding of the situation. She joined the battle for Cephiro without completely understanding her reason for fighting; she had simply been happy to do what she could to save Cephiro. Whenever possible, Hikaru tries to understand all sides before drawing her sword. She does so because she never wants to regret her actions again.

Any differences: Lucy is far more feminine than her pre-incarnation counterpart, in part due to growing up with a fashion-conscious mother instead of three athletic older brothers. While she's not entirely comfortable doing her own makeup or nails (she struggles with both), she loves dressing up, especially in dresses and skirts. Petticoats, leggings, and knee-high socks are also favorites of hers.

It should come as no surprise then, that Lucy is far less athletic than Hikaru. Hikaru's family ran a kendo dojo and she took up swordplay at a young age. Lucy had no such encouragement from her family to take on extracurriculars. Lucy is simply not the sword-wielding girl she was in her past life. If you put a sword in Lucy's hands, she's more likely to clumsily wave it around than actually strike a critical blow.

Lucy is also incredibly lonely, in part due to the absence of her parents -- and until recently, the absence of her older brother. She latches onto others quite easily. This allows others to take advantage of Lucy's kindness. Both desperate not to be alone and quite often oblivious to her mistreatment, Lucy will endure most anything for the sake of companionship. As a result, she's landed herself among a circle of friends who have no compunctions asking to borrow money from Lucy they never intend to repay, or accessories they never intend to return. If she finds her school uniform submerged in water after PE class, she's more likely to laugh it off, albeit shakily, then actually defend herself. Though she lacks the confidence of her preincarnation counterpart, she won't hesitate to defend others, though.

At the same time, Lucy is prone to wearing her heart on her sleeve -- even more than her preincarnation counterpart. While Hikaru would hide her tears or her sadness, Lucy has no such qualms crying in front of others. When she's sad, she'll cry; when she's angry, she'll yell; and when she's happy, you'll certainly know it.

Abilities: Hikaru's parents own and run a kendo dojo, so she's quite good with a sword. She became a more skilled swordsman after her travels through Cephiro.

Hikaru also has the uncanny ability to understand animals.

Equipment
A magic broadsword that evolved with the strength of her heart.
A set of magical armor that like the magic broadsword, grew with the strength of her heart.
A mashin or rune god, a living, conscious mecha that Hikaru pilots.

All of Hikaru's equipment, including the mashin, can be stored inside a gem on the glove of her armor and summoned at any time.

Spells
Flame Arrow
Hikaru's most commonly-used magic spell, flame arrow is exactly that: an arrow of fire used to attack the enemy.

Crimson Lightning
Hikaru's most powerful, but lesser-used spell. When using this spell, Hikaru gathers lightning energy and forms powerful, ruby-colored balls of flame.

Roleplay Sample - Network: [The voice over the speaker is a young one; her tone is a tad uncertain.]

Hello. I'm new to this whole thing, so I apologize in advance if anything I say seems silly. I'd tell everyone my name, but I want to wait to make a formal introduction until after I tell my family about all of this.

[A deep breath.]

Does... Does anyone have any experience talking to their relatives about their past life? I'm not sure if I'm going to tell my parents yet, but my big brother, at least, deserves to know.

But... [A brief pause.] because he's my big brother, he's bound to worry about me. I-I don't really have any powers to speak of, but if there's anything I can do to help, I want to do it! [Until now, her tone grew more and more sure of herself, but after she gets that out, her tone reverts to its usual uncertainty.]

I just don't want to have to do so while keeping it secret from him.
